Day Trip to Ourika Valley

The Ourika Valley, located in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, is a picturesque and vibrant destination known for its stunning landscapes and traditional Berber villages. Just a short drive from Marrakesh, the valley is famous for its lush greenery, terraced fields, and crystal-clear streams that flow down from the high mountains. Visitors can explore the scenic beauty of the valley, hike along the Ourika River, and enjoy the serenity of the area. The valley is also home to the Setti Fatma waterfalls, a popular hiking spot, offering an authentic and peaceful escape into nature.

Ourika Valley Day Trip

We start at 9:30 am, with pickup at your hotel in Marrakech. Then we will take a short drive from Marrakech to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. On our way we will pass through Laagreb, the largest village in the region and enjoy the successive mountain villages. As you go up the hills, we will take in various wonderful landscapes including traveling along the beautiful Ourika River.

A highlight in our journey is a stop at an argan oil production cooperative, and here we will also enjoy a wonderful Berber breakfast. Then we will continue on our drive through the valley, making another stop in Tazitount. Here, we transfer to a 4×4 vehicle and the adventure up the mountain begins. You have the option to ride on the roof or inside the 4×4 to reach the village, all while admiring the breathtaking view. When we arrive to the village, we will explore a little bit, so that you can experience Berber culture and how the people live their daily lives on the mountain.

From there, Imad is pleased to invite you to his parents’ house, and you can take a break and enjoy a cup of tea inside his family’s home. After this visit, a delicious Tajine is waiting for you on the roof of the local hostel, with another incredible vista. We then finish with a magical walk down the mountain on foot to join our driver on the valley.

With a bit of red earth on the soles of your shoes and many amazing memories, your day in the Atlas Mountains ends with a drop off at your riad at 18:30.
